Great jet A+ for fun(Posted on April 30, 2013) Very stable great leaner jet. We have f16,18 and 22 and this one is my favorite. Great way to spend $70!! |

Fun little jet(Posted on March 23, 2013) This is a fun little EDF jet to fly, it's pretty quick and will float in for a pretty smooth landing, not the easiest to hand launch tho? I wished valuehobby offered the steerable landing gear, but you can get it! I did, and installed it on mine and its easy to get in the air now... |

OK but plane has NO ductwork(Posted on January 15, 2013) I love the F9F Panther EDFs. This one is made from EPO which is a real plus however like all EPO it will take a set when stored. You will notice it by having to re-trim. Carbon fiber in the wings and horizontal stab can minimize the warping. The plane is a bit of a pig. I upgraded to Don's Wicked 4800 KV motor and balance fan but this plane does NOT use it power very well because it has no ductwork to get the air into the fan. Yes, it has a cheater hole on the bottom but airflow to the fan is pretty dirty. I even added a nice thrust tube but still it will not fly as quickly as a stock STARMAX F9F . Watch the CG. Set it to be a tad nose heavy otherwise it will tend to pitch up on launch. |

Great plane for the price!(Posted on December 24, 2012) I have about 10 flights on it so far. One of the easier EDFs to hand launch that I've owned. I had the F86 and had about a 50% success rate on hand launches but this one has no roll or tip stall tendencies. 100% successful launch rate so far. Even if you launch it accidentally nose high, it just floats in high alpha flight slowly sinking but the wings stay level. Just push the nose down level and let it pick up a little speed. The elevator does not need a lot of throw. Had to reduce the throws and add a good bit of expo to get nice smooth control of the elevator. The recommended throws in the book are a good starting point, then adjust from there to your liking. Easy to fly, easy to see even on gray skies with the color scheme and easy to land. On landings it just floats on in and I've yet to see a tip stall even if I just chop the throttle and glide it in. |

Best 70 bucks I ever spent. (Posted on September 24, 2012) Took my time on build, 3.5 hours. First flight, dead on, not one click or adjustment. Flew with a 25c 2200, slid it to the front as suggested. Just between us, it's underpriced:) Flew in 20 mph wind with 30 gusts. Just a Blast. |

F9F jet Nice!!(Posted on August 29, 2012) Got this jet several weeks ago and am very happy with its performance. It is such a blast to fly! CG in manual is right on the money. Just be sure to balance it upside down. I use valuehobby Gforce 1800mah 3s 30c and get about 4 minutes of full throttle flight. With throttle management you can stretch it out to 7-8 min. I fly this jet 3-4 times a week. Got great compliments at the flying club too. I installed gyro on ailerons and to me it seems to fly much smoother and tracks better. Go to mycoolrc to get gyro set up info (or google it). It works great!! Radio is Turnigy9x. Dual rates 48% ailerons, 65% elevator, 35% expo. Also on board is lipo battery alarm u can get here at valuehobby or hk. When it goes off (3.6volts) it's time to land. The esc will reduce power right at 3.5 volts. Also have throttle to elev mixing so on full throttle, pitch stays level. Took me a few flights to dial it in but it flys great now. This jet has a fantastic glide slope and floats in for a landing approach. I've had a couple of dead stick landings (when i couldn't hear lipo alarm) and she glides very nicely for touchdown. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with experience. |
